Mission

Disclaimer: We're modern day hippies.

OK, we're hippies but we don't live in Portland, or even in Oregon for that matter.  We live in the San Francisco Bay Area and we're green.  Hippies to the core. Green.

Like a growing number of people on Earth, we're concerned about the impact of our lives on the planet. Just like camping, we would like to leave it a little better than when we arrived.  We have two small children who are also learning how their choices may affect everyone.  We've done the small, easy stuff.  We drink from reusable water bottles (filled from filtered tap water) and bring cloth shopping bags to the grocery store.  We have a compost pile.  Our recycling bin nearly overflows every week with the paper, soup cans, and boxes that accumulate over a week.  We're doing pretty well.

But for us, it's not enough.  We generate approximately one bag of trash every week, which isn't a lot, but it's too much for our tastes.  We are interested in paring that volume down to one bag of trash per month.

That's the goal.  We want to generate as few as 12 garbage bags of trash in one year.

This is going to be a process and we're going to learn a lot.

Here goes!
